Recipe for Paneer Makhni Biryani

This dish is a delightful combination of paneer and rice, cooked in a creamy and spiced tomato gravy.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Basmati rice
  • 1 cup paneer cubes
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons cream
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Soak the Basmati rice in water for 30 minutes.
  1. Heat oil and butter in a deep pan.
  1. Add the sliced onions and fry until golden.
  1. Add the ginger-garlic paste and fry for a few minutes.
  1. Add the chopped tomatoes and fry until soft.
  1. Add the chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and turmeric powder. Fry for a few minutes.
  1. Add the paneer cubes and fry for a few minutes.
  1. Add the soaked Basmati rice and mix well.
  1. Add 4 cups of hot water and salt to taste.
  1. Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 20 minutes.
  1. Add the cream and mix well.
  1. Serve hot.
