Recipe for Paneer Makhni Biryani
This dish is a delightful combination of paneer and rice, cooked in a creamy and spiced tomato gravy.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Basmati rice
- 1 cup paneer cubes
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons cream
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Soak the Basmati rice in water for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil and butter in a deep pan.
- Add the sliced onions and fry until golden.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and fry for a few minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and fry until soft.
- Add the chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and turmeric powder. Fry for a few minutes.
- Add the paneer cubes and fry for a few minutes.
- Add the soaked Basmati rice and mix well.
- Add 4 cups of hot water and salt to taste.
- Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 20 minutes.
- Add the cream and mix well.
- Serve hot.
